Building Beyond Ownership

Social Impact Statement

At Gatepass®, we believe that access to safe, secure, and dignified housing is not a luxury; it’s a fundamental human right. Our mission extends beyond just providing land and home financing. We are here to build communities, restore dignity, and unlock opportunities for the millions of Kenyans who have been excluded from traditional property ownership systems.

This Social Impact Statement outlines our commitment to the communities we serve, the values that drive us, and the tangible actions we are taking to uplift underserved individuals and families across Kenya.

1. Housing as a Human Right

For decades, homeownership in Kenya has been out of reach for many due to high costs, complex mortgage systems, inaccessibility to credit, and systemic inequality. Gatepass® was born to challenge this status quo. We work daily to make home and land ownership a real possibility for low- and middle-income Kenyans who are often left out of conventional financing models.

2. Empowering Through Ownership

We recognize that owning a home or piece of land is a powerful catalyst for generational change. It fosters financial stability, improves mental and emotional well-being, and creates a ripple effect in health, education, and community involvement. Every Gatepass® plot purchased and every home built contributes to this transformation.

3. Inclusive Financing Model

Our Lipa Pole Pole (Pay Little by Little) model is intentionally designed to remove the traditional barriers to entry. We do not require payslips or credit scores. Instead, we measure commitment; empowering informal sector workers, self-employed Kenyans, and young people to begin the journey to ownership through affordable monthly contributions.

This model ensures that the underserved are not just included, but prioritized.

4. Gatepass® Foundation (A Home for Everyone)

Through the Gatepass® Foundation, we are directly impacting the lives of vulnerable populations across the country. For every deposit made by a customer, KES 2,000 is channeled towards housing support for families in need. This includes:

  • Families living in unsafe, informal, or dilapidated housing conditions

  • Elderly individuals with no support system

  • Single parents struggling to secure shelter for their children

  • People with disabilities who need accessible living conditions

By simply purchasing a plot with Gatepass®, our clients become impact partners in solving housing poverty in Kenya.

5. Building Communities, Not Just Houses

Our work goes beyond bricks and beams. Every project we launch is designed to foster community living, long-term sustainability, and dignity. This includes:

  • Securing land in strategic, accessible locations

  • Providing infrastructure like roads, drainage, and security

  • Planning for future amenities like schools, shops, and clinics

  • Encouraging social cohesion and responsible ownership among plot owners

Gatepass® developments are not just places to live, they are places to belong, grow, and thrive.

6. Economic Impact

Our model creates hundreds of jobs for:

  • Local fundis, masons, and engineers during home construction

  • Legal, surveying, and valuation professionals

  • Marketing and customer support personnel

  • Youth involved in digital onboarding and client engagement

Additionally, the increase in land ownership stimulates local micro-economies, attracting services and businesses that drive community growth.

7. Environmental Responsibility

We are committed to supporting green financing and eco-friendly housing solutions, especially in our home construction phase. Gatepass® promotes:

  • The use of sustainable materials

  • Solar power integration

  • Rainwater harvesting systems

  • Energy-efficient designs

We believe that building homes should never come at the cost of the planet.

8. Future Commitments

Gatepass® is just getting started. Our future social impact initiatives include:

  • Launching a “Home for a Hero” campaign to support frontline workers

  • Scaling the Gatepass® Foundation to fund full builds for extreme cases

  • Partnering with NGOs and CBOs for community development programs

  • Introducing mentorship programs for youth in real estate and construction

9. A Collective Effort

None of this is possible without our clients, partners, and the communities we serve. Every landowner, investor, and team member at Gatepass® plays a part in this movement. By choosing Gatepass®, you’re not just building your future; you’re helping build someone else’s too.
